The summer, and the future.

This summer was by far the worst one I've ever had. I had completely no motivation, and my new job was most likely the reason for that. On days off, I would relax for the entire day. That's just about it. I hadn't recorded any content for the channel that was upload worthy. I tried corrupting something once with RTC's "Process Stub", but couldn't get many results out of it. It felt like I wasted that spark of motivation, because barely any output was produced, when I was hoping I'd get at least a 2 minute video out of it. The result, was more of a 15 second video.

Now that summer's over, the motivation to do something productive should hopefully spark back up soon, if school doesn't take all of it. The problems I've mentioned here before are still in affect however; I'm still tired of editing videos. I could hire a video editor, but that comes out of pocket and I want to edit videos the way I want to edit them.

Ever since April, I think the channel is built upon broken promises. I wanted to produce an iceberg video, but why didn't I put anything out? No motivation. And work. A rough draft was in the works, but the chances of it ever being finished in the state that it's in is slim. I need to redo most of it for me to be proud of the output.

The future of the channel is uncertain. The aforementioned "motivation spark" is entirely an assumption. I would like to make videos, I just can't seem to get myself to actually make one. Loads of ideas have been written down, and I've imagined a few of them in my head. I just have to get started whenever I have motivation.

miiarcus' March Update

I reached 500 subscribers on YouTube is a really big deal for me. My previous attempts on gaining attraction on YouTube were never successful, I think I peaked around 200 in my last attempt? It's hard to remember since that channel was forgettable. I had already hit a sweet spot with my content which have gotten me up to this point, which I thank YouTube's broken algorithm for recommending my mediocre content to y'all. But where should I go beyond this point in time?

My channel has always been in the game corruption genre, with a few tech "reviews" here and there. The problem with being in this genre is that if you corrupt game after game, it's going to get old. And yes, I admit that it's getting old. That's why I want to bring more variety to the channel, but with my lack of ideas at the time of writing this it's going to be difficult. I've already tried to bring more variety to the channel, such as the Exploring Old Broken Bones Games on ROBLOX video, or one of my personal favorites, the A Completely Ignorant Happy Wars Overview video.

It feels like I put in more effort with videos similar to the Happy Wars video, as I genuinely had fun recording and editing that video. With corruption videos, editing is far more boring and time-extensive. All I do is:

  • Find a moment where Contestant0 does the funny
  • Zoom in on the clip (if needed) for viewers to get a closer look at the funny
  • Split the clip, then find another moment where Contestant0 does the funny
That takes nearly 3 hours to do. 3 hours of sitting my ass down at the computer, clicking the mouse and moving it back and fourth. It may seem easy, but it gets repetitive fairly quickly.

This is why I want to bring more variety to the channel. The only problem with that variety is that it goes nowhere. I want at least a couple of hundred people to watch my content from start to finish, but if it only gets 100 views and dies off, how would that be memorable to my viewers? I'll give variety another shot, and perhaps do a topic that's known by more people than just a small handful of people. This is what to expect from my channel in the future. (and maybe a 500 subscriber Q/A video?? 👀)

Moving onto my personal life, I recently got a summer job! This probably will affect how often I'll upload over the summer, but with this new job I can afford new equipment for the channel, such as getting a better microphone, or buying more old devices to make videos of, or to get new games to make play-throughs with, the possibilities are endless! Do remember that I have an Album Of The Year profile, which is where I do most of my writing; about music reviews. You can check it out by clicking here.

That's all I've got to say. I'll try to get something out this weekend or next week. I'll upload whenever I feel like it, I guess you could say, since I'm too lazy to follow an upload schedule.

It's been quite a while!

 I'm still alive!

I completely forgot about my blogger page existing and lately I had never found the time to write posts for this blog. So what have I been doing over the past 2 months of inactivity from here?

Well, I became the top listener for Motion City Soundtrack on Last.fm!

I've always wanted to be in the top spot for MCS, knowing how much of a big fan I am for the band. Now I just need to dominate the scrobble leaderboards by reaching 20K scrobbles for the band. It's going to take quite a while, but I'm already a 1/3rd of the way there, so it shouldn't take too long.

I also got some albums on vinyl! But Here We Are by Foo Fighters, Lovelife by Lush, and everything is alive by Slowdive are all the vinyl records I own at the moment, but I hope to expand my collection slowly. Collecting vinyls is an expensive hobby!

Other than that, there's nothing else that's worth mentioning. School has taken a chunk out of my free time which limits the things I want to pursue. This winter in general is the worst one yet, because it was so warm and dry which lead to us barely getting any snow. That's quite unusual in my area, we're usually supposed to have more than 2 feet of snow on the ground right now.

I hope I can do more things in the spring and summer that are worth writing about!

Check out my AOTY page!

I do more typing on the Internet than you think. This isn't the only place where I spill out all sorts of nonsense, but if you want some music related nonsense, my AOTY page is the right place to go!

The PSVita is now in my hands!

Last post I said I'd update you once I do get my hands on the PSVita, and yesterday I did! I didn't make an update post yesterday since I was playing the PSVita all day, but I might as well create this post during a boring school presentation.

The PSVita came with a 128GB SD card, it's already modded and PSN spoofed, and all it needs is some playtime. I installed quite a few titles, such as LBP, ModNation Racers: RT, Spy Chameleon, (which is very nostalgic) Minecraft: PSVita Edition and many more titles. Surprisingly, Minecraft plays great on the hardware it's on, especially LBP as I haven't noticed any lag yet. ModNation Racers lags all over the place since it's a direct port of the PS3 version, but it's bearable.

Now, the only problem is that I have just one friend that owns a PSVita, and since the online services are free, I'd love to start getting more and more PSVita owners onto my friends list! If you also want another PSVita owner on your friend list, go ahead and add miiarcus onto your friend list. You can also suggest games for me to get at my Blips page.

The PSVita arrived! Just one problem...

Yesterday I got my PSVita in the mail, and it looks better than I expected. The seller even threw in a case since they had one lying around, also because we were talking to the seller about questions and what other cool stuff it can do. I was able to hold it in my hands for a few minutes until my father said "You have to act excited when you open it up on Christmas." That alone made my stomach drop.

What's the point of holding your Christmas gift in your hands, wrapping it up, waiting two weeks, and opening it up again? There has to be a way to convince him to allow me to use it early, since I can prove my point. When I got a new desktop computer for Christmas, he let me have it out of the box. Maybe because a desktop computer is huge? Is that why he let me have it early? I have many questions that have to be answered.

This post is short, but I'll update y'all once I do find a way to get it in my hands. As always, thanks for reading.

Pre-owner thoughts about the PSVita

I've been using my PSP a lot ever since I found out that we're actually buying a PSVita, just to get myself hyped about the console. The arrival date said it'll be on my doorstep today or tomorrow, and I really can't wait to get my hands on that console. It's so easy to mod, has an extremely low risk of getting PSN banned, has great graphical capabilities, and a really cool feature that I want to try out.

Now, since my PS3's WLAN chip broke before I could use this feature, we also have a PS4 that barely gets used. That's mostly because the PS4 sits in the living room, and since all of my family members want to watch TV, the PS4 can't really be used. That's all going to change though, since the Vita supports something called "Remote Play."

Remote Play with the PSP and PS3 was very limited, it only supported PS1 games and like 3 PS3 titles. As soon as the PS4 came out and introduced Remote Play with the Vita, it made Remote Play so much better. From what I've heard, Remote Play with the PS4 and Vita supports almost every PS4 game, with the exception of Playstation Move games, of course. I've got some good titles I want to play on the PS4, but I'm barely able to even get on that console because of where the console is. That's all going to change though!

I'm also excited about playing "LittleBigPlanet 2" on that console, since my friend says it's the best one out of the series and the Vita version plays exactly like the PS3 version. Minecraft, ModNation Racers: RT, hell even Jetpack Joyride on the Vita all sound exciting. I've always enjoyed the console releases of Jetpack Joyride since there's no IAPs, no ads, and no BS. Also because you're clicking a button instead of pressing on the screen...

If you, the reader wants to friend me on PSN, send a request to miiarcus and I'll accept it when I can. Thanks for reading!
